Covering your face with your hand, you finally got up to take the very much puzzled Nirei. He was probably thinking of what he had done wrong, even though you were just so happy about it. 

“Thank you so much, Nirei. I never thought you’d love it so much.”

He couldn’t bring himself to ask anything, simply holding you closer. His heart’s lighter now that he heard you laugh.

Umemiya 

Since Umemiya heard you talked about your ex with Tsubakino, he was thinking of a way to make it up for you. He’s still upset that you were treated so poorly compared to what you do for others and desperately wishes to make you feel appreciated this time. 

He already had, what he thought, an idea, but he didn’t want you to guess so he had to organize it all somewhere you know. Not that he minded much. 

That’s why when he heard the rooftop’s door open behind him, he couldn’t wait to see your reaction. 

“Hajime ?” you looked around for him. “Why did you make me come this late, nobody’s there and- oh.” You stopped, a rather blank face at first as you looked around all the things he made up. 

Garlands were falling around the small space he used to eat with his friends, all kinds of food you liked on the table from what you could see and a small bag on the corner as well. You stayed silent for a second, mouth agape. Blinking a few times, your eyes finally fell on him. 

He had a huge, satisfied smile on his face, almost making you blush at the fondness dripping from it. He was patiently waiting for you to open your mouth to talk, rather than eating mosquitoes. 

“You prepared all of that ?” 

“Yep!”

“What for ?” you giggled nervously as you got closer, amazed, looking more carefully to what was on the table.

“Thank you. Because you’re always there for me, helping me, even cooking for me.” he explained calmly as he followed you around, half a step behind you. “You deserve it.” 

You choked on your laughter, feeling the tears coming to your eyes as he kept talking. “I don’t.” 

“Yes you do.” Before you could turn around, two strong arms wrapped around you, pulling you to his chest. Resting his head on yours, you muffled you cried in your hand but you could tell he was smiling. He must feel proud of himself, and he should. 

“That’s perfect, Hajime. Thank you so much.” your voice cracked, but you didn't really care. The ffelingof his hug tightening around you was enough.

When Blade returned, he found a neatly wrapped box on the table, a card with his name written in elegant strokes beside it. He stared at it for a while, the ordinary sight feeling so foreign in his chaos-filled world. Carefully, he picked up the card, reading your short, heartfelt note.

Inside, folded with care, was a dark sweater, thick and soft to the touch, the colors subtly resembling the night sky. His fingers brushed over the stitches, a strange warmth spreading through him as he realized you'd made this by hand, stitch by careful stitch.

Later, when you found him, he was wearing the sweater, silent but eyes warm. "You don’t… have to keep doing things like this." he murmured, almost unsure how to express the mix of comfort and gratitude he felt.

But you only smiled, reaching to fix the collar. "I want to." Blade looked down, hiding a small, softened smile. In that moment, something in him felt less fractured.

Sampo Koski

Sampo was a lot of things, but genuinely speechless wasn’t usually one of them. When he saw the sweater, though, his usual charm faltered for a moment.

“Ohhh, look at this!” He held it up, the color and style fitting his flair perfectly. “Did you really make this? Just for me? You sure you weren’t thinking of another guy?” he teased, winking, but there was an unusual warmth in his tone.

“Try it on, Sampo.” you insisted, playfully rolling your eyes.

He did, grinning widely as he adjusted it. "Well, look at me, all cozy and stylish! This is priceless! I’ll bet this sweater’s gonna get me some deals. And, hey, it even makes me look extra trustworthy!” He spun dramatically, though he couldn’t quite hide his flustered expression as he pulled you into a spontaneous hug. “Thanks, sunshine. Gepard was more than surprised to find a package waiting for him when he returned from his post. Unwrapping it, he found a perfectly tailored sweater, every stitch immaculate and precise. He touched it, admiring the way the thick, warm material felt against his calloused hands.

When he saw you, he was already wearing it. “I… I can’t thank you enough for this,” he said, looking down slightly. "It must have taken you a long time."

“Not as long as you’re worth.” you said, smiling as he blushed.

Sunday returned home after the festival, exhausted yet tranquil. When he found the sweater waiting for him, neatly folded and smelling faintly of lavender, he was deeply touched. His fingers gently traced over the knitting, imagining you working on it alone, stitch by careful stitch.

When he finally slipped it on, he felt a warmth far beyond the wool’s soft embrace—a warmth he rarely felt, a moment of peace. "Thank you." he whispered, though he’d yet to see you.

you were sat in the vip section of a barcelona match. since your uncle was the manager, you got to sit up here and knew most of the players personally. some of them probably felt forced to interact with you since your uncle was their boss, but you didn't mind the thought of it.

one particular boy took a special liking to you around a month ago.

you and pablo had started talking more and he ended up asking you to be his girlfriend after a practice you had visited.

you two didn't get to see each other as nearly as you had wanted, partly because of pablo's busy schedule, and partly because you were both still very... awkward around each other.

although not seeing each other often, you two went on a few dates which were.. let's just say interesting.

during your first dinner date, pablo accidentally spilled a bit of water on your lap while trying to show you the missing button on his sleeve. you both ended up laughing it off, but you could tell he was embarrassed.

or when you two would walk together, your hands would occasionally brush against each other, urging some blushes and hesitant smiles.

pablo would fumble with his words whenever he tried to give you a compliment.

you saw it as a cute innocence. you didn't mind having to wipe water off your skirt if you got to see that pink fluster creep up his cheeks every now and then.

you were shaken out of your thoughts as you heard cheers erupt from around you. joao felix had just scored the opener against antwerp on his debut. you stood up and cheered. you didn't know him too well yet, but him and pablo seemed to be hitting it off on the field.

some time passed, and the score was 3-0, one an own goal, and two from joao. you paid close attention to the game now, waiting for pablo to score. you had a feeling he would, and you didnt want to miss it.

once he actually scored, you couldn't contain your excitement, clapping and cheering for him with genuine enthusiasm. caught up in the moment, pablo shyly pointed towards you in the stands, and his face lit up with a proud smile at the sight of your applause. he sends a heart your way, making yours skip a beat.

pablo's teammates playfully teased him about his new romance, finding it cute to see two young people so smitten with each other.

the whistle blew, signalling the end of the game. you stood from your seat, grabbed your phone and lipgloss, applying as you walked down the stairs. you made your way to the tunnel to talk to your uncle and congratulate the team, specifically a special brown haired boy.

you didn’t see him around, so you waited for a bit, but grew impatient. you walked towards the locker room and pushed a knock against the door. “it’s me!” you called out, like usual.

the boys called out jumbled words, but you could make out your uncle’s “come in”. you pushed open the door to see him talking to the boys in the locker room, all still dressed in their kits. they drank water and listened to him intently.

he was going on about some new playing methods and strategies but also included how he was proud of their win. he sent the joao’s a smile and the locker room erupted in cheers. water was splashed around and they got some pats on the back. you congratulated them with a smile and turned to your uncle.

“congratulations, the team did well, courtesy of you, of course.” you flashed xavi a toothy grin and tucked a piece of hair behind your ear.

he smiled back and ruffled the hair you just fixed, earning a whine from you. “thank you, princesa. means a lot coming from someone like you.” he winked sarcastically before pressing a kiss to your forehead. you smiled softly at the gesture.

“so, i was wondering if-“ your words were cut off by hushed whispers and giggles coming from over xavi’s shoulder. you peered over to see jules poking pablo’s rib. pablo smacked his hand away in embarrassment before pedro made a kissing sound at him.

“stop, stop it!” pablo whisper shouted, a tinge of red creeping up his neck. fermin snuck up behind pablo and whispered to him in his ear before ushering him forward. “go say hi, she’s waitinggg!”

“seriously, can you guys not?!”

“oh come on, go give her a hug, lover boy” alejandro had joined in on the games too, messing pablo’s hair up before nudging pedro. “bro, look at how red his face is!” they both laughed at pablo who looked like steam was about to erupt from his ears.

his lips were caught in a pout, his fists balled up, and he was doing everything in his power not to look your way.

eventually, almost the whole squad had joined in on the teasing, pushing pablo towards you. xavi had moved to the side at this point, a admiring smirk playing on his lips as he watched an embarrassed pablo being shoved towards you.

you stood there awkwardly until you finally met face to face. he gulped nervously.

“hi..” he looked as if he’d just seen a ghost.

“hi?” your eyebrows furrowed at his widened eyes. after a few seconds of silence, you spoke again.

“congratulations, you played well.”

you sent him a soft smile so contagious he caught one too. “really?” it almost sounded as if he didn’t believe your words.

“your, um- your goal was my favourite..” you bit your lip and looked up at pablo through your eyelashes.

he was about to respond until a chant echoed through the room.

“hug! hug! hug! hug! hug!”

you felt the familiar heat rise up from your ears and saw an almost identical reflection on pablo’s face.

an apologetic smile snuck its way onto his face before he whispered out,

“may i?”

you couldn’t help but giggle before you opened your arms, ready for his embrace. your bodies connected and you nuzzled your head into the crook of his neck. you fit together so perfectly. his hands were unsure at first, but slowly secured around your waist, yours wrapped around his neck.

the room erupted in cheers and applause, some shouting out “aww” and “oooh”. you couldn’t help but laugh into pablo’s shoulder.

She ALWAYS feels cold even if her body temperature is normal and sometimes it drives her crazy

Lots of nightmares about what-ifs - what if it was my kids instead of me, what if it was my brother instead of me, what if i didnt have oxychew, what if i never met the Moonlanders, etc etc etc

The taste of black licorice will genuinely send her spiraling, and because it lingers - it wrecks her for days (she hates similar flavors such as rootbeer)

Finds a lot of joy in warm places so she now loves to be out in the sun

Had a period of time where she wasn't really talking with Penumbra because of the severity of her triggers/ptsd

Both finds peace in dead silence, but it also brings her back to the moon as well - she has a very complex relationship with isolation

Prefers silver over gold (even though she doesn't wear jewelry, she likes silver on others and silver on things such as zippers and buttons)

Spent quite a few years terrified of flying after the horror of her own trauma set in, but it threw her into a big depression since piloting is her passion

Hates taking care of her stump because she doesn't like taking her prosthetic leg off - she sees it as her own, so she hates taking it off even though she knows she needs to when sleeping or showering

She has a hard time looking at her stump and scars because on one hand; sick as hell battle wounds, but on the other; damn was that the worst time in my entire life

Depression and Anxiety

Even before crashlanding on the moon, she dealt with depression and social anxiety

She has a bit of a hard time keeping her room tidy and taking care of herself, but she's phenomenal at putting other people first

Feels as though she's not attractive enough

Wants to be a ray of sunshine in other peoples' lives

She's very scared that she won't be enough for people and therefore she must put 110% into everything she does for others

ADHD and Autism

Her sensory issues tend to directly conflict with her PTSD issues - like she hates silence because of the moon, but sometimes she gets overstimulated by noise and needs the silence or alone time

She does not sleep until her body physically passes out because the change in activity is hard for her to deal with

Goes insane if she feels understimulated because her brain begins to shut down and she dissociates

Many, many stims (sometimes doubles as grounding with PTSD): bouncing her leg, various hand motions, feeling the fabric of her clothes, physical affection with her loved ones, playing with the tightness of her prosthetic (loosening and then tightening it over and over), shaking her head to feel her hair around her shoulders (and solidifying that what she's feeling is earth gravity)

Really hard time understanding social cues that makes her come across as rather ditzy

Special interest in aircraft technology and was a top student at her flight school

Love/Hate relationship with reading because if she enjoys what she's reading she gets invested, but if she's understimulated, the words jumble together in her mind

Not good at math for a similar reason

Fish are a huge sensory nightmare for her; the scales, the smell, the taste, etc

Is generally pretty sensory-seeking, but has a few Hard Nos on textures (such as slimy scales)

Other:

I headcanon Della having compulsive sexual behavior disorder, and her libido especially spiked after being on the moon for 10 years, and it makes her feel really gross at times

Due to said hypersexuality, she gets intrusive thoughts that piss her off

Because of the moon not really having a clear indicator of night and day, Della lost her circadian rhythm and struggles with a Hell combination of non-24 and ADHD insomnia

The lack of general sleep makes it hard for her to lose weight and so she's insecure about that

Physical Disabilities:

Because she was on the moon for so long, the zero gravity and lack of proper breathable oxygen took a huge toll on her, physically

She developed really bad asthma and will likely be recovering from it for the rest of her life

Her lungs can only intake so much oxygen at a time, so she also struggles with shortness of breath

Upon returning to earth, her body was really broken down from the cold atmosphere - causing her to not be able to regulate her body temperature properly

Her bones were weakened upon arrival, so she has to spend years recovering physically from it

Her stump is irritated a lot because she doesn't like taking care of it properly

She owns crutches for when she needs to take breaks from her prosthetic just because of the discomfort when wearing it

She is not afraid to hit Donald with a crutch BTW

nemesis: is uhhh kind of really mean!!!! she says something to mel along the lines of "you're upset you lost a family you don't remember? i KNEW my mom, all you did was be born"

moros: you can invite moros to the crossroads and he stands near the fated list far from everyone because nobody wants to talk to doom incarnate (odysseus in particular makes a point to say he'll stay away). iirc he introduces himself as "the bearer of bad news" which i find kind of clever but also a bit sad. if you give him nectar iirc he says nobody has given him a gift/offering before. aphrodite also notes that moros has made mel's acquaintance and calls him good-looking.

hephaestus: he criticizes your weapon's workmanship when you first meet him, then later takes it back and compliments it as very good, and says "just don't go spreading it around" to the olympians.

takeaways:

hermes is "missing" but he's on a mission for the war to find out what chronos is scheming

artemis (and hermes) didn't tell the olympians hecate has been raising a titan-killer (mel) and the olympians don't really believe she can do it but send her boons anyway, presumably figuring why not

only mel can enter the house of hades to challenge chronos, so that's why she needs to make this journey alone

hecate is rather sweet and mentorly with mel, but she gets exhausted and irritated when mel doubts herself. i didn't grab it but there's a bit where mel says if hecate had not held back, she knows she would've lost, and hecate snaps "you know?" asking mel why she puts limits on herself

mel, hecate, selene, and artemis are part of a secret order called the silver sisters that hermes also supports. olympus does not know about it. all these gods (save hermes) also have moon iconography in their designs

pretty sure moros will be romanceable. i think his and mel's interactions are very sweet, and aphrodite notes he's arrived and calls him good-looking, which reminded me of how she commented on thanatos to zag. no idea who might be a female romance option yet (i'm assuming there is one)

hephaestus boons are a lot of fun, per my sister

the big one: HECATE AND NEMESIS KNOW SOMETHING WE DON'T??? hecate maybe knew an attack was coming and didn't do anything?? nyx is also confirmed to basically be not around though we don't know where she is. and hecate is something called a handmaiden??? is she meant to serve nyx? it now seems like the children of nyx are meant to serve hecate, and eris isn't doing that, but nemesis is playing guard duty begrudgingly. so maybe nemesis thinks hecate let the house be captured/destroyed for her own ends, possibly also to get nyx out of the picture, so nyx's children would serve her(?). maye nyx is also a silver sister and hecate is now in command at the crossroads/on earth, second only to selene?

He thought it couldn't be possible, but it happened. he was already upset at himself for allowing himself to spend time with you. And with those soft and sweet smiles of yours, he'd almost always looks away—and what you wouldn't notice was his his blushy pink cheeks that would always fade back into his normal pale, color when he'd turn to look back at you, tilting his hat a bit to hide his own smirk.

The guy had even known you when he was once Scaramouche, you'd catch his eye from time to time, but he never really thought about talking to you. Back then he just thought of you as a 'pretty girl', then he'd scoff and turn away. He even wished he'd gotten the chance to have one chat with you before he deletes himself out of existence as Scaramouche. You always seemed to look at him with that cheerful smile. But he's glad he got a chance to befriend you, and now, as a normal person.

He didn't even think puppets could fall in love, nor did he think his porcelain face could turn red! But it began happening more often often the more he hung out with you. Being a wanderer made him not be busy—unlike his past self as Scaramouche who always had things to do. He despised that old part of him, but now he's a changed man alright. He's still vedy cautious and trying his best not to show any vulnerability, he wouldn't wanna remind himself of the rime he was a pathetic, dumb doll who allowed himself to be betrayed.

But he wouldn't let you betray him, no. You're stuck with him.

He didnt exactly understand the concept of „love“. He's seen couples in Sumeru and didn't quite get why they were so affectionate, prepping kisses on eachothers lips and always holding hands. He'd sometimes even cringe at it. Even imagining himself like that with you felt weird... Wait, whys he thinking of it in the first place!?

After finally accepting the fact he's in love after days of trying to convince himself he isn't, he began to think—would you feel the same? That thought made him anxious, if you saw him as only a friend. If he really wanta you, he'd try.

And he did.

He'd go to the library more often, looking for romance books and even looking arouns him to make sure noones looking. He doesnt wanna be caught reading something so embarrassing... He read a few stories, even some tips and tricks on how to flirt, which he found pathetic. Who would wanna say "did it hurt when you fell from heaven" to someone they like? Pathetic! But as he read some romance stories, short and simple, he just couldn't help but imagine how it would be with you... How soft your lips would feel against his, and they way your twos fingers would intertwine.

And then he tried some things out.

He has tried pinning you against a wall, fortunately getting a reaction od you having a small blush, but then brushing it right off and smiling like he didn't do anything. Then he even grabbed your chin between his indec finger and thumb to make u look up at him—and you didn't even have a reaction! Wasn't that something common people did to get people to be flustered!?

He was beyond frustrated, even ended up asking Nahida for some help, to which she happily recommended for him to write you a letter, if he was too scared to say what he wanted it in person. 𝖧𝖾 called it pathetic and stupis, and a waste of time at first, but then he immediately began writing one after.

It took him so many tries, so many crumbled up papers on the ground, to the point Nahida also helped him come up with words to write. At last, finally, he decided to be sneaky and put it in your mailbox, knowing you will be opening it soon. He was a flustered mess as soon as he was rushing away once he put the letter in.

He'll definitely be even more flustered if you tease him about the letter the next day... ♡

Hi! How are you doing? Sorry to bother you, but i dont know many scottish people and idk who to talk to about this book I found on audible. It's called Imogène, by french author Charles Exbrayat. Do you know him /the book? I've started reading it but I had to pause because, while being sold as a "humorous spy story" I find the protagonist, a "very proudly scottish" woman, to be... an offensive caricature? Like she acts like a fool, honestly. This book contains some interesting points about sexism (it was published in 1959), and ridiculous british habits (such as employees forced to give money for princess anna's birthday or being socially scorned). I'm sure the shared dislike / distrust the protagonist and her british colleagues feel are (were?) realistic. But she is so extra, and the story keeps telling how lonely she is, even after working 20 years in london. She has No friends, most acquitances dont talk to her for various motivations, her bosses hates her ... idk I feel this book is actually mocking scottish people? Or scottish women??? I was SO there for a "strong woman protagonist who gives cutting remarks to her boss or peers", but this looks wrong. Idk. I didnt know whom ask for inputs. Maybe i'm reading too much into it. I think cultural and historical context and time of publication-- which was almost 70 years ago --are important factors to take into consideration when we look at fiction through our current expectations.

I can’t speak to the book as I’ve never read it, but speaking as a Scots woman who worked for an English publishing house for a while, being made to feel alienated by my boss and others due to being Scottish was unfortunately still something going on in 2011.

I’d get lots of “Oh but you sound so eloquent” remarks regarding my thinned-out accent (something I did on purpose to avoid being told to “speak properly” which was also something I heard a lot in school if I ever used my native Scots language instead of “Queen’s English.”) and one time my boss referred to me as “their civilized Scot” to an American author, whose Scottish romance book I was supposed to be fixing the dialogue on.

The phrasing was along the lines of, “Don’t worry, you’ll be able to understand her. Joy is our civilized Scot.”

The author laughed and made another derogatory comment about how they just loved Scottish accents even if it was unintelligible a lot of the time. I kept my mouth shut because I didn't want to lose my first career job.

I kept my mouth shut a lot in that job.

In that regard I could very well empathize with the character being lonely and not engaging with anyone, even after 20 years.

The proud Scottish woman can be a bit of a caricature, but that doesn't necessarily mean it is intended as mocking.

Again, cultural/historical context matters.

I wasn’t alive in 1959, but I know there was a lot of Scottish media about the time that leaned into the stubbornness and pride of Scots women both for humor and to make societal commentary on the fact that women were strong and more independent than they’d ever been following two world two and a lot of men weren’t happy about it and wanted them to go back into their boxes. As a result the mouthy, proud Scots woman became a mockable caricature that turned women into shrill, over proud scolds.

So is this book being mocking, or is it employing popular tropes of the time, knowing that audience will understand what it means and that the female protagonist is being subversive despite what others expect from her?

I can’t say. Again, haven’t read it. It could be utter dogshit and making total fun of my culture. But I do think when looking at older media we need to put our thinking caps on and think, “How would the audience of the time, 1959, have viewed and engaged with this?”

Expecting a “strong female protagonist” as we know it from media today isn’t going to work with media that’s almost 70 years old.

Hell, the “strong woman protagonist” wasn’t even something any piece of media could agree on when I was growing up in the 90s.

Times change. Literary tropes and preferences change. It helps to keep that in mind.
